WORKING AT VISCO - NOT FOR CREATURES OF HABIT
The Visco is the ship for professionals who like to wake up every day in a different place in Europe.
Working in inland navigation does not yet have the fame it deserves and that's probably because we do our work very quietly on the rivers. Nobody is sitting behind us in traffic, so inland navigation is not conspicuous. And that is a shame. Because living and working on board a ship is unlike any other job. It is not easy to find another job with so much room for adventure combined with such attractive working conditions. The salary you can earn on board an inland waterway vessel and the amount of free time you get are above average.
And, if you decide to work in inland navigation, working on board the Visco is the best choice. And that's because of our workplace environment. The ship is modern and well maintained, so you can always do your work efficiently and easily. But the most important thing is the way we build our teams. We like a balanced mix of older and younger crew members, and a sense of togetherness is crucial. We're sure you'll have a good time aboard the Visco. The deck crew is made up of explorers, sailors who enjoy working outdoors. They are maritime talents with a love for ships, who can work independently without a boss having to tell them what to do. We value team players who work in a close-knit, collegial deck team.
And then the captains, who are all top of their game, have a true love for inland navigation. They have the vision to run a ship seamlessly and they ensure it's executed, every day, with a passion and commitment that makes the owner proud.
The Visco mainly sails coal to Karlsruhe and then takes aggregate back to Hasselt, Meppel or Ketelbrug. But the Visco also transports rapeseed, clay, corn, cement, containers and rolls of iron.
Do you want to work under Dutch labour conditions or as a freelancer on a smoke-free ship with a 14/14 sailing schedule? And do you have a Rhine Patent (Rijnpatent) up to at least Mannheim? Join our team. And who knows, you might soon be driving to and from the boat in our incredibly cool red company car.
